Coliprev is a nutritional supplement that contains the enzyme lactase. A transient lack of the enzyme lactase (milk sugar) is a possible cause of colic in babies, because due to an insufficiently developed digestive system, they cannot convert lactase into simpler sugars. Unlike lactase, which is difficult to absorb and causes stomach bloating, colic and inconsolable crying of the baby, galactose and glucose are easily absorbed in the intestines. By adding Coliprev drops to milk, lactase is broken down into simpler sugars, stomach bloating is prevented and cramps are reduced. Coliprev drops are used only in the first 3-4 months of life, during the period when there is still not enough lactase enzyme production in the baby's digestive system.
